As believers, we all have a calling on our life to go out and make Christ known among the nations. This assignment does not begin when we hit a certain age, so how do we help children live out the great commission?

Three ways to teach children about missions are by encouraging, equipping and engaging them in mission work, Missions learning can happen in the classroom but a missions lifestyle is cultivated outside the classroom. Children need to be shown how to serve others and engage in mission opportunities alongside their parents, other children their age, and other adults. Surrounding them with a group of people who love and live out missions will not only set a foundation for missional living but will help them be active in serving others long into their adult years.

Start Engaging Children Now

Consider joining thousands of children around the U.S. for Children’s Ministry Day on Saturday, February 18, 2012, as they step out beyond the walls of their church to reach their community. For more information and ministry ideas, click here.

Human trafficking is a crime that is growing every day in our world, nation, and state. Texas is a “destination state” for traffickers because of its easy access. The Federal Bureau of Investigations has named I-10 the number one human trafficking corridor in the US. Texas has over 800 miles from El Paso to Orange.

You are asked to join with hundreds of others in prayer on the tenth of every month at 10 am/10 pm. This prayer focus is to eradicate human trafficking in and along the I-10 corridor.

This initiative is called “10 at 10 for I-10″. A prayer guide in English can be downloaded at www.traffickstop.org/uploads/10@10FLYER.pdf. For Spanish go to www.traffickstop.org/uploads/10at10FlyerSpanish.pdf. A conference call kick-off prayer event is scheduled at 10 am on October 10th. To join the call dial 712.432.0900 and use participant code 410809.

For regular updates check out Facebook page www.facebook.com/10at10forI10.

God’s vision is to see I-10 become a Road of Hope for victims of human trafficking. May it be so as we pray.

This year, throw off anything that hinders you from serving the Lord.

“Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.” Hebrews 12:1-2 (TheMSG)

God calls us to go out into the world and be on mission with Him. As His children, our task is to share the gospel and help people understand that there is hope. We are asking you to STEP OUT by faith, moving beyond the walls of your church, to meet needs and share Christ. Below are a few projects you can get involved in today.

Collect ink cartridges.

Go on mission trips.

Connect with Literacy ConneXus and get involved with Books for the Border.

Prayerwalk in your community.

Adopt a CWJC/CMJC location in Texas and donate supplies.

Raise money for the Women’s Build so we can build a house for a family of 4 in McAllen.

Help plan a Power Project event for teens in January 2012 to bring awareness and fight human trafficking.

Help plan a Children’s Ministry Day event in your hometown on February 18, 2012.

Make a difference in your community today!
