Pick a Project
There are so many projects to choose from when it comes to Operation Education. Be creative and help your children give back to their schools, teachers, lunch workers, volunteers, and don’t forget the administration employees.
Serve The School
Children can either decorate and/or clean a local school.
Survivor: Teacher
Kids can encourage teachers when they give them a fun and inspirational Survival Kit. The Kit could include a glue stick; a tea bag; a pencil; a pencil sharpener; a chocolate kiss; a small bottle of liquid bubbles; and a cloth, paper, or foam heart into a gift bag. Create a fun gift tag that says “I Care”.
After-School Donations
Kids will gather and deliver items that will benefit an after-school facility.
Lunch and Laundry for College Students
Children will help a local college ministry serve a meal and assist with laundry. This may include collecting items for a laundry kit (powdered detergent, dryer sheets, quarters, laundry bags, hampers, etc.). Include encouraging notes in each kit.
Welcome Home Kit
International college students attending school in the US are far from home. For many, this is the first time they have been away from family and friends. Kids can minister to the international students at a local college in a variety of ways. They can make a welcome kit with coupons to local restaurants; useful items such as bath gel, pens, candy, copy paper, stamps, phone cards, quarters, and laundry detergent. They can also get an address for the student and write them encouraging notes monthly.
Mini Music-and-Arts Festival
Kids will host and perform at an arts education festival. Encourage students to identify artists, musicians, and or writers to enlist in their program. Invite school teachers and private instructors to participate. Provide an arts and crafts area where create art together.
Family Focus
Lead your family in these activities to participate in Operation Education. Be sure to share God’s love with each person to whom you minister.
Homework House Party
Open up your home to students and teachers in your neighborhood – young and old. Prepare a good study environment for them. Play soft music and serve refreshments during the study break. Offer to supervise or help with homework. Serve as a study partner for students preparing for an upcoming exam. Or cook a meal or babysit for a teacher who needs time to prepare for class.
Teacher Snack Pack
Encourage your child to find out his or her teacher’s favorite snacks. Assemble a customised snack pack or buy gift cards to favorite restaurants. This gift will provide the teacher with an extra boost of energy when he or she needs it most.
Take Your Project One Step Further

Books for the Border
In Texas, Literacy ConneXus has an ministry opportunity that connects church groups with communities where families lack reading materials at home. The initial emphasis was on seven Texas-Mexico border counties included among the 20 poorest in the United States. But, since poverty prevents access to books by people in every community, Books for the Border has grown to assist churches in providing literacy needs throughout the state and even beyond its borders. For more information please go to Books for the Border or contact Lester Meriwether at 817-696-9898.
