2011 TESTIMONIES OF CMD IN TEXAS

Cedar Bayou Baptist Church, Baytown, TX
The 1st-6th grade Girls in Action made 40 fleece lap blankets. We worked on them several times in the months leading up to Children’s Ministry Day. Then on CMD, we delivered the blankets to a nursing home near our church. The girls enjoyed meeting the residents and handing out the blankets.

Paluxy Baptist Association, Granbury, TX
Our project was to share our children’s clothes with our neighbors. Each child from our churches brought 10 items of good, used clothes. They set out the clothes on tables by sizes. Children from our community came and picked out clothes to take home free of charge. Our children shared the gospel by putting tracts and the Jesus film in each sack of clothes that was taken. Those children that were not able to come sent their clothes to be shared. The left over clothes was taken to Joseph’s Locker, an agency in our community that gives away clothes and food to needy people.

Champion Forest Baptist, Houston, TX
We made up goody bags filled with candy, playdough, bouncy balls, bubbles, salvation bracelets, and information about our church children’s programs on Feb. 13th. Then today we went to Krogers and passed them out to kids that were coming in to shop with their parents. We had people who could not believe we were giving stuff away for free. some even tried to make a donation to us. We explained to them what we were doing and how we just wanted to invite them to come visit us at our church. All in all I think that we had a great day and our girls learned alot by this experiance.

Mims Baptist, Conroe, TX
Our GAs, RAs, and Mission Friends went to the homes of two our senior ladies who needed help around their houses and yards. We dusted, vaccumed, cleaned windows, and blinds and raked their yards. Also cleaned their porches. Before the event we made T-shirts at one of our weekly meetings. The ladies we helped were very appreciative. The boys and girls worked very hard.

First Baptist Church, Gatesville, TX
We hold an annual Children’s Ministry Day Valentine Breakfast on the Sunday closest to Valentine’s Day. The donations we received will go into the Children’s Ministry fund of our church and will be used to purchase badges and such for our RAs and GAs.

First Mexican Baptist Church, San Antonio, TX
We chose South Texas Children’s Home. We had great time there. The boys and girls and some adults from our church joined in the games and shared the word of God with them We also prepared baskets with snacks and board games for each home. We were truly blessed and ready to do it again next year with God’s help.

First Mexican Baptist Church & Pine Street Baptist Church, Winnsboro, TX
Our two churches have been coming together each year to do CMD. This year each church had our children create 100 “goodie” bags and we went to various locations around our community to give away our free gifts and to tell people that God loves them and gave them the greatest free gift of all – His Son, Jesus. One of the locations we visited is called the Blessing Box. It has several of the same ministries as the Savannah Baptist Center where Alice White is serving which our GAs are learning about this month. It was great for the girls to see a similar ministry to what we are studying in our GA curriculum.

First Baptist Church, San Angelo, TX
Children In Action, 1st – 5th graders, collected games, toys, books, sheets, socks and office supplies for the children and staff of our local Children’s Advocacy Center during the month of February. A presentation was made to a CAC representative during a Sunday morning worship service. Continuing with the action of helping our neighbor and more specifically children in our community, in April we assisted the Children’s Advocacy Center by painting their sign and planting pinwheels on the courthouse lawn to bring awareness of the 527 children abused or neglected in Tom Green County in 2010.
